Job Description
The National Office of The ALS Association is recruiting for a Manager, National Signature Events. Reporting to the Director, National Signature Events, the successful candidate will bring knowledge of major markets within the specified geography and have demonstrated corporate development experience and the ability to coach a team in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment. The location of this position is flexible.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Collaborating with national and chapter staff to develop and implement National Signature Events programs with special emphasis on Walk to Defeat ALS®.
· Assisting assigned chapters in Walk to Defeat ALS® strategic planning to evaluate walk site history and potential for sustainable growth.
· Monitoring the progress of the Walk to Defeat ALS® program throughout Chapter network and develop timelines and budgets, and ensure that tasks are completed on time and within budget.
· Serving as resource for National and Chapter staffs’ inquiries to ensure a clear understanding of Walk to Defeat ALS® goals and objectives and the means by which these goals should be achieved.
· Supporting and motivating Chapter staff nationwide through ongoing trainings and guidance on the Walk core components and standards, program implementation, staff & volunteer partnerships, etc.
· Focusing on the development of a team approach to the success of the Walk to Defeat ALS® program – team partnership shall include National and Chapter staff, sponsors, families, volunteers, etc.
· Collaborating with the Development Department to continually assess the effectiveness of Signature Event programs, informational materials and trainings.
· Working closely with the Chapter Relations Department and Regional Development Officers to provide a coordinated approach for Chapter growth and development.
· Conducting trainings and presentations at Chapter, regional and national meetings.
· Managing assigned budget and expenses for National Signature Events successfully.
· Travel as required for Association business.
· Other responsibilities as required or requested.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Three to five years’ experience in a non-profit environment with exposure to Walk program(s) & fundraising events
· Team player that has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers. Must develop, maintain, and utilize relationships.
· Ability to effectively multi-task, establishes priorities, and work in a fast paced environment.
· Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills. Capable of handling diversified assignments and highly adaptable.
· Excellent written, oral, and communication skills. Self-starter, requiring little supervision.
·
Understanding
of various computer systems and databases. Proficient in Microsoft Office and
successful experience using the Convio platform is a plus.
