Job Description

Reports to: Director of Development

Salary: $40,000 - $50,000, plus benefits and 401K package

About Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure: Our mission is to invest in research aimed at finding the fastest possible route to a cure. We believe that a nimble, focused and aggressive entrepreneurial model will increase the number of therapies discovered and then enable those therapies to be more rapidly driven into the clinic. We provide researchers with the pivotal support they need to make critical breakthroughs. We are inspired by the passion of the families that have been affected and the knowledge that there are answers out there just waiting to be found.

Position Overview: We are looking for someone who will approach this role with fearless creativity; someone who can think on their feet, handle stressful situations, and display initiative, while maintaining a positive attitude and sense of humor. We are looking for someone who understands the “best practices” of fundraising and events, but doesn’t feel limited by them.

We are a small team (5 FT, 2 PT) that is trying to do what some would consider the impossible…find a cure for brain cancer. In order to do that we must surround ourselves with dedicated professionals who not only understand what it takes to get the job done, but tackle those jobs with everything they’ve got! We are proud of the commitment we have made to each other, the brain tumor community and the mission. We are looking to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this horrible disease and we can’t do that by just maintaining the status quo. We are carnivores, not herbivores, and we’re looking for a driven, self-starter to join our team.

A job description is simply a general outline of what a job will entail. Real life responsibilities will forever be growing and evolving.

Primary Responsibilities:

·       Manage the Florida Brain Cancer 5K; tasks will include but are not limited to:

o   Fundraising strategy and team coaching

o   Volunteer, donation and website management

o   Sponsorship acquisition

o   Independent travel to Florida throughout the year.

·       Develop and grow new Race Towards a Cure endurance program.

·       Manage third-party events and fundraising support

·       Assist on other events as needed, including the Race for Hope – DC

·       Work with Director of Development to develop Events Program strategy and goals.

Qualifications:

·       Experience in Convio’s Teamraiser is required, experience with Salesforce is preferred

·       Great sense of humor and “can-do” attitude; on a small team no task is below anyone’s position

·       2-4 years of event planning experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting (Walks, 5Ks, etc)

·       2-4 years of fundraising experience, preferably in peer-to-peer

·       Extremely organized, strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize

·       Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

·       Great team player with the ability to work independently, sometimes with little to no direction

·       Passion for and commitment to finding a cure for brain cancer is a plus.

This position is not for the individual looking for a lot of structure, rules and “this is how it’s done” attitudes, so please keep that in mind before applying.
