Embassy Suites Hotels® Empowers Guests to Aid in the Fight Against Cancer

Hotel Brand Announces Alliance with LIVESTRONG™ Lance Armstrong Foundation MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Embassy Suites Hotels announces its relationship with the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) to help address the needs of more than 10 million cancer survivors living in the United States. In an effort to increase cancer awareness and action, Embassy Suites Hotels is mobilizing hotel team members and guests across the brand’s 185 hotels to help support the fight against cancer by raising awareness and providing monetary support. “As an official supporter of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, we are creating a framework for our hotels to get involved in the fight against cancer through giving and participation in Foundation programs,” said John Lee, vice president of brand marketing and communications, Embassy Suites Hotels. “We recognize the millions of lives touched daily by cancer and want to play an integral role in providing support to these survivors.” On August 25th-26th 2007, Embassy Suites team members and guests will unite in Philadelphia, PA to kick off the first of three LIVESTRONG Challenges, the LAF’s signature cycling, running and walking events, which will also take place in Portland, OR on September 29th-30th, and in Austin, TX on October 12th-14th. Embassy Suites Hotels is inviting hotel guests and team members to support each fundraising event series by volunteering at the events and by providing monetary donations. In honor of each LIVESTRONG Challenge event, Embassy Suites Hotels will donate $25,000 to the LAF. To help provide on-the-spot comfort to LIVESTRONG Challenge participants, Embassy Suites Hotels will erect a “Cool Zone,” a 10 ft. high water misting system designed to help refresh participants after their walk, run or bike ride. The Embassy Suites “Cool Zone” will be positioned near the finish line at each Challenge and Embassy Suites Hotel team members will be on hand to give out rally towels. “We are extremely fortunate to be able to help empower thousands of people through our hotels and provide them with an outlet to help in the fight against cancer,” added Lee. “With nearly 30,000 hotel team members and approximately 15 million guests per year, our brand is providing a large platform to make a difference and help make the fight against cancer a national priority.” “We are proud to have Embassy Suites Hotels on our team in the fight against cancer,” said Doug Ulman, LAF President. “With the thousands of valued team members and guests that make up Embassy Suites Hotels, there are many stories of survival and empowerment to share. We look forward to hearing about their journeys and working with Embassy Suites Hotels at the upcoming LIVESTRONG Challenge events.” For more information about Embassy Suites Hotels or the Lance Armstrong Foundation, you can visit www.embassysuites.com or www.livestrong.org.
