Melissa Aucoin

As Director of the organization’s signature event, Race for the Cure®, Melissa brings over a decade of event planning and fundraising expertise to her role at Susan G. Komen. Her career began with the organization in 2001 as a coordinator in Komen’s Affiliate Network department where she provided strategic direction and leadership to domestic Affiliates in a number of key areas, including marketing, fundraising and event production. Today, Melissa is responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the Race Series, the organization’s largest fundraiser and world’s largest series of 5K run/walk events. The series currently hosts over 130 domestic events annually, with nearly 1.6 million participants generating over $125 million in annual gross revenue. In Dallas, she leads a team of professionals specializing in fundraising, event marketing and recruitment, volunteer management, event production, and online revenue generation.

Prior to joining the Komen family, Melissa worked in the field of hospitality management for a number of popular hotel chains. She studied at Louisiana State University and earned a BA in Communications from the University of North Texas. Currently, she resides in North Dallas with her husband.
