The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge Raises More Money Than Any Other Athletic Fundraising Event in the Country

The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge presented by the Boston Red Sox and Overstock.com, is the nation’s original fundraising bike-a-thon and today raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. The PMC is a model of fundraising efficiency. In 2006, the PMC donated 99 cents of every rider-raised dollar directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. The PMC generates nearly 50 percent of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue and is its single largest contributor. Last year, 4,270 PMC cyclists raised and contributed $26 million to the Jimmy Fund, bringing its 27-year contribution to more than $171 million. The cyclists’ 2007 goal is to raise $27 million.
