Stefan Strickland

Stefan Strickland joined ALSAC/ St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in November 2012 as the Sr. Director of Fitness and Endurance Programs for the organization. Under her leadership she is responsible for the development, implementation and strategic direction for the Fitness and Endurance Platform that includes walks, marathons/triathlons, endurance challenges, bike rides and other fitness related activities. In this role she will enhance existing fitness-based efforts as well as build and implement new fitness-focused programs to support the organizational strategic plan and grow fundraising support and brand awareness/engagement in this niche marketplace. Primary goals include increases current program participation and amplify fundraising in existing markets.

Prior to joining ALSAC/St. Jude Stefan served as the National Director, of the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes from May 2011 through October 2012. She was responsible for managing the organization’s largest fundraiser, the Walk to Cure Diabetes. Under her leadership she introduced and delivered online fundraising and recruitment strategies and tactics that lead to double digit growth in registrations, online donations and online transactions. She introduced the first ever marketing, engagement, recruitment and fundraising strategies and tactics to engage broader type 1 audience to Walk program – adults, community/civic/service organizations, faith-based, college community, etc. In addition, she delivered and created the first ever segmented and targeted eCommunication plan for Walk program, supported by a newly created multi-channel marketing, communications and engagement plan for Chapters for use in Walk recruitment, fundraising, and stewardship with JDRF. She also introduced and delivered key performance metrics for Chapters to monitor recruitment and fundraising performance of Walk participants.

Between 2003-2011, Stefan was the Director of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® series, the world’s largest 5K run/walk series. During her 8 year tenure, the Race series revenue grew 65% and participation grew 30%. In addition to leading the strategic growth of the Race series, Stefan’s responsibilities included the growth and development of the Komen Affiliate’s whose gross revenue was under $1 million annually. Responsibilities included board development, board governance, fundraising, public policy, organizational development, volunteer management, operations, financial management, policy compliance, legal and risk management.

Prior to joining Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Stefan worked at JCPenney Company, Inc. corporate headquarters for 12 years where she held positions in direct marketing (catalog/internet division), sports marketing and event management.

Personally, Stefan is married to Michael and they have one son, Matthew who is 6 years old. She is an avid runner, enjoys sports, snowboarding, outdoor activities and the beach!
